Working Principle
How It Works
The wearer dons the harness, connects the demand regulator to the cylinder valve, and opens the main valve. The demand regulator delivers clean compressed air on inhalation only — conserving cylinder duration. In positive-pressure mode, the mask interior is maintained at slightly above atmospheric pressure, preventing any outside toxic air or smoke from leaking inward even if the face seal is momentarily imperfect. An audible warning whistle activates automatically when approximately 25–30% of cylinder pressure remains, giving the wearer clear warning to withdraw.

Maintenance & AMC Tips
Cylinder hydraulic pressure test every 5 years (mandatory IS:7285)
Annual inspection of regulator, harness, and face mask seal by trained technician
Check cylinder pressure before every use — minimum 80% capacity
Store vertically in a clean, cool, dry location away from UV and heat
Conduct practical donning drill quarterly — target under 60 seconds
Legal & Compliance Requirement
The Factories Act 1948, OISD standards, and fire station equipment guidelines require BA sets for all industrial sites with hazardous substance storage, confined space operations, and on-site emergency response teams. Without SCBA, entry into any smoke-filled or oxygen-deficient environment is immediately life-threatening for anyone attempting rescue.
