Working Principle

How It Works

A Manual Call Point (MCP) contains a thin glass element or a resettable key-switch. When the glass is broken or the button pressed, it completes a supervised circuit to the fire alarm panel, triggering the zone alarm. Fire bells and electronic sounders connected to the panel's sounder circuits then produce a continuous audible alarm at 85–100 dB — clearly audible across entire floor areas even in noisy industrial environments.

Legal & Compliance Requirement

IS:2189 and NBC 2016 require audible alarm devices and manual call points on every floor and at all exit routes of protected buildings. The MCP allows any occupant to manually trigger a building-wide alarm without waiting for a detector to respond — critical in cases where a fire is seen or smelled before it generates sufficient smoke or heat to activate detectors.
