Working Principle

How It Works

A fixed-temperature heat detector contains a fusible alloy element or bimetallic strip that triggers at a pre-set temperature (57°C or 90°C). Rate-of-rise detectors continuously monitor how quickly temperature increases — triggering an alarm if the rise exceeds approximately 6.7°C per minute, even before the absolute temperature threshold is reached. Both types are mechanically simple, highly robust, and require minimal maintenance.

Keep It Ready

Maintenance & AMC Tips

1

Test annually using a heat gun or approved test lamp (never open flame)

2

Inspect housing for dust, grease, and condensation buildup

3

Verify wiring terminals are secure and corrosion-free

4

Replace unit immediately if subjected to a real fire event

5

Check compatibility with panel firmware after any panel upgrade

Legal & Compliance Requirement

Heat detectors are the correct solution wherever smoke detectors would generate nuisance false alarms — commercial kitchens, boiler rooms, paint booths, laundries, and dusty manufacturing areas. NBC 2016 and fire department inspection guidelines specifically require heat detectors in these high-temperature or contaminated environments.
