Working Principle

How It Works

Each sprinkler head contains a heat-sensitive glass bulb filled with glycerine-based liquid. At 68°C, the liquid expands and shatters the bulb, allowing pressurised water from the pipe network to flow and discharge in a controlled spray pattern directly onto the fire. Only the heads directly above the fire zone activate — limiting water damage to the fire area only while all other heads remain intact.

Legal & Compliance Requirement

Sprinklers are mandated by NBC 2016 for buildings over 15m height, hospitals, hotels, and high-occupancy assembly buildings. TAC insurance underwriters require certified sprinkler systems for reduced fire insurance premiums — typically 20–60% savings. Automatic sprinklers have a 96% effectiveness rate in controlling fires to the room of origin before fire brigade arrival.
