Why we took our students to an expo
A fire safety course can teach the classes of fire, the parts of an extinguisher and the layout of a hydrant line. What a classroom cannot do is put a student next to a full-size fire tender, or let them compare ten kinds of extinguisher on one table. That is why students of Zed-King Institute of Fire And Safety went to Fire India 2026, held in September 2026 at Yashobhoomi, the India International Convention & Expo Centre in Dwarka, New Delhi.
The exhibition brings manufacturers of fire fighting and fire protection equipment under one roof. For a student who will soon be working as a fire safety supervisor, a fireman or a technician, a day there shows what the industry they are joining actually looks like.
What the students saw
Outside the hall, fire fighting vehicles were on display. The students could walk around a fire tender, see where the pump controls, hose reels and lockers sit, and look closely at an aerial ladder vehicle and a vehicle fitted with a large mist cannon.
Inside, the stalls covered almost every topic from the syllabus:
- Fire extinguishers of many kinds side by side: wheeled water mist units, CO2 and powder extinguishers, and ceiling-mounted automatic units.
- A cut-section model of a fire pump, which shows the inside of a machine that students normally only see from the outside.
- Fire pumps, valves and hydrant fittings displayed as complete assemblies.
- Firefighter suits, helmets, gloves and boots, including aluminised suits for high heat.
- A breathing apparatus set on a mannequin, with the cylinder, harness and face mask in their working positions.
- Fire alarm panels, detectors and call points mounted on demonstration boards.
What a visit like this teaches
Three things stay with students after a day at an exhibition. The first is scale: a hydrant valve or a pump looks very different in the hand than it does in a diagram. The second is variety. A site rarely has one perfect answer, and seeing several products that solve the same problem helps a student understand why a survey comes before a recommendation.
The third is confidence. At an exhibition students can ask the people on the stalls how equipment is installed and serviced, and they find that the terms they learned in class are the same terms the industry uses. Back in Kaithal, the same topics are easier to teach because every student now has a picture to attach to them.
This sits alongside the practical work that is already part of our fire safety courses: morning parade and physical training, live extinguisher practice, and student-built project models. You can see photos of all of it, including this visit, in our gallery.
If you are choosing a fire safety course
Ask any institute how much of the course happens outside the classroom. Practical drills with real extinguishers, time on hose and hydrant equipment, and exposure to the industry are what turn a certificate into a skill an employer can use.
If you would like to know more about our courses, eligibility and batch timings, call or visit us in Kaithal. We are happy to show you the training ground and the equipment our students practise on.
